- Due to the hosting service (DreamHost) telling me that my rates are going to jump 3x starting July 3rd, I'm moving the site to cheaper, more reliable hosting. If you get any 404s over the next few weeks, that's probably the problem. I'm also working on a redesign of the site to get rid of the login requirement. Secrets will be truly anonymous, and there won't be any accounts, except for administrative tasks, which only I do anyway.
Privacy Policy
Introduction
Too Many Secrets respects each individual's right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at Too Many Secrets's Web site.
- Information Collection
Too Many Secrets collects information through our Web site at several points. We collect the following information about primary visitors:
- Valid e-mail address
Too Many Secrets does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information. We prohibit and actively edit and delete user-posted content that contains personally identifiable information.
We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information:
- None
We do not collect demographic data from users.
We verify the accuracy of users' e-mail addresses by sending an account verification/activation e-mail. If the user does not reply to the activation e-mail by visiting the included link, their account will not be activated, and they will only be able to read the site.
We collect this information through registration forms. The information is collected voluntarily. To receive our products and services, a valid e-mail address is mandatory in order to prevent spam robots and zombies from filling the site with garbage. Other information we request is optional.
We do employ the use of cookies that keep track of the following data:
- Your current session ID (to keep you logged in between pages)
- The ID of the last secret you viewed (to show a link that will return you to the page containing that secret)
Banner advertising appearing on our Web site may collect the following information:
- None
- None
- Information Usage.
The information collected by Too Many Secrets will be used only to verify that they are both human and unique. Users who provide information will receive no further contact from us after the initial welcome and activation e-mails.
The information we collect will not be used to create customer profiles. We will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources.
We will not share any user data with any third parties.
We offer links to other Web sites. Please note: When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours.
Our Web site offers an opportunity to post anonymous confessions, much like a church confessional, only without the guilt. Please be advised that information posted in these venues becomes public knowledge, and be careful to leave out any personally identifiable information.
If our policy on information collection or uses changes, will advise you by e-mail immediately.
- Access to Information
Too Many Secrets maintains the accuracy of our information by use of a validation/activation e-mail sent to users upon registration. Users may delete their information from our database by contacting the site's administrator using the contact form and requesting that their account be deleted.
- Problem Resolution
If problems arise, users may contact Too Many Secrets by using the contact form. We are committed to resolving disputes as soon as possible.
- Data Storage and Security
Too Many Secrets protects user information with the following security measures: User passwords are encrypted along with a salt value, and are never stored in the database. The password a user enters will be encrypted along with the saved salt value, and the encrypted values are compared to authenticate users. There are currently plans to store e-mail addresses in the same way, such that the only plain text user information available in the database will be their username.
